Dear Teaching Assistants...

Dear Teaching Assistants,

I'm so glad to see so many of you in the building this semester. Our semester is two weeks old now, and things have gotten off to a roaring start! Tonight was night two of my Introduction to Linux course, and things went like I expected them to, and I have you to thank for it!

I do appreciate the time you spent installing the new Sony CD/DVD drives in the classroom computers. Finally, my students can use the cheap install media that comes with their textbooks. Also, I love the new LCD panels. They are a lot nicer than the old monitors that we had last semester, and they should cut down a good bit on the temperature in the room, which is notoriously hot anyway.

I also noticed the shiny new removable hard disk trays that were placed in the systems. I know it must have been hard work getting those trays all installed, putting the hard disks in them, and locking them so my class could install Linux on them and learn something new.

But if I may, I'd like to make a suggestion. Next time you install hardware, could you, you know, like, plug the hardware in? Hard disk trays don't work so well when they don't have IDE cables and power connected to them. So yeah, if you could get on that so my next class isn't quite the epic FAIL that tonights class was, I'd really appreciate it.

I'd consider doing so myself, but to be honest, I have a day job that is 50 miles away from campus, and I only teach one class per week, so I really don't have the opportunity to get into the lab to properly install hardware like you do.

Thank you so much!

Best regards,

An Adjunct Instructor
