I'm leavin' ... on a jet plane
So I'm off again on another fun-filled adventure across the pond, and a number of my friends have informed me, to varying degrees that they hate me, I suck, they're jealous and so forth. But truth be told, it's not as grand as fantasy makes it out to be. First, there's the travel itself. read more »
I'm an Ubuntu Tester and so can you! Announcing the Ubuntu Desktop Testing Team.
Thursday was ISO day. A day (or days actually since we start the ISO testing on Tuesday or Wednesday, whenever they're ready) of infinite madness and lots of WTF moments. ISO days (my term) are the days during the Ubuntu development cycle when we release a milestone image. These milestones are the Alpha and Betas of Ubuntu, released at certain times to allow the Ubuntu community and world at large to get a taste of what the next Ubuntu release will be like, and to test the hell out of what we've got so far.
Now a day after ISO day, the whole Ubuntu family is pleased to announce the beginnings of the Ubuntu Desktop Testing Team. There are quite a few specialized testing teams within the greater Ubuntu Testing world. The Laptop team, for instance, was recently reformed to help get Ubuntu tested on as many different laptops and netbooks as possible. The Desktop Testing Team is similar, but will be focusing on ensuring that the Ubuntu User's experience is as good as it can be. The Desktop Testing Team will focus on desktop and application bugs and enhancements and making sure we tweak the desktop UI to make it as user-friendly as possible for as many people as possible.

The greatest Ubuntu advertisement you've most likely never seen
I was pointed to this earlier today by someone on one of the many Linux lists I hover around. It's a great video, and an awesome presentation built to showcase Ubuntu Netbook Remix (9.10) on Dell systems. It speaks for itself, but it's incredibly well done.

One Week in Prague: Adventures in hard work and alcohol consumption

It's finally the end of a very long week of work and I'm looking forward to the next 4 days of holiday in what has to be one of the most fascinating cities I've ever been to, Prague. I'm officially here for the Ubuntu Platform Sprint, a week long marathon of working to get over the hump that occurs during the middle of each six month release cycle. read more »
